When you are dealing with a loved one who has a disability, you may feel helpless. This is normal. Especially if the person that has the disability is a child of yours. Many people who are dealing with these problems help themselves cope with the anger, frustration, and confusion that they feel by turning to easy coping mechanisms.

For some, this is smoking. Going out for a cigarette every time you feel stressed or upset can lead to dangerous health problems for yourself in the future, though. Some people today are turning to e cigarettes, because they do not pose quite the same health risks, but still have the nicotine.

Others may turn to alcohol as their substance of choice when dealing with these emotions. Unfortunately, as a depressant drug, alcohol can make the inadequate or hurtful feelings even worse.

There are healthy ways to cope with your pain and stress though. One thing that many people today are turning to help them get through their stress is yoga. Not only is it a great exercise that can help you get in good physical condition, it also has been shown to be a stress reliever. This can help you get into better mental condition as well.

Helping to relieve some of the stress that you deal with on a day to day basis is extremely important. Too much stress can lead to health problems of your own, especially if that stress is allowed to go on for too long. Heart problems, ulcers, and many more health problems are known to arise from too long of unrelieved stress.

If you are having a hard time figuring out healthy ways to deal with your stress, you may want to consider consulting a professional. A doctor can talk with you about the stress you are dealing with, and help you find the best way to handle it.
